    Nuclear export control

It is still largely unclear how nuclear export of mRNAs is regulated, in trypanosomes and elsewhere. The aim of my project is the analysis of a perinuclear structure that forms at the cytoplasmic site of the trypanosome nucleus, when trans-splicing is inhibited. I am combining biochemical with cell- and molecular biological approaches to understand the composition and function of this unique perinuclear structure.
